Shahpur Jat The pick
Shahpur Jat won on structure. The designers here rent walk-ups, not flagship stores. The tailors downstairs predate them and outlast them. That mix keeps the place honest and keeps the prices sane. It also has range the others lack: jazz at The Piano Man, beer at Fort City Brewing, Himalayan food at Lama Kitchen, embroidery at Olivia Dar, all inside a fifteen-minute walk. Hauz Khas got famous and paid for it. Mehrauli went luxury and left the street behind. Champa Gali is one lane. Shahpur Jat is an actual working neighborhood where things get made, sold, and eaten, in that order. Made, sold, and eaten, in that order, is the right order.
