This policy explains what data brooklynof.com collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short because the honest version is short.
Who runs this site
brooklynof.com is operated by Hypeman Studio, based in Stockholm, Sweden. Questions about this policy go to hello [at] brooklynof.com.
What we collect
Analytics (Plausible). We use Plausible to count visits. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It tells us how many people visited a page, roughly where in the world they came from, what device they used, and which site referred them. It cannot identify you individually. Besides page views it counts a few anonymous events: a newsletter signup, and a click on a hotel booking link. An event records the city and the venue, nothing about the person. Newsletter (Beehiiv). If you sign up for the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and, when you ask for a pocket guide, the city it is for, so the welcome email can carry the right PDF. We use this only to send newsletter content and you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. Beehiiv processes this data on our behalf. See Beehiiv's privacy policy for their practices. Advertising. We do not show ads at present. If we ever do, we will update this policy and add consent controls before any ad loads. Affiliate links and hotel map (Stay22). On the Stay pages only, a Stay22 script loads after the page has loaded. It turns our Booking.com links into stay22.com affiliate links, and the same pages embed a Stay22 hotel map. When you click a hotel link, Stay22 or the booking site may set a cookie to attribute the booking to us, which is how we earn a commission if you book. See Stay22's privacy policy for details. Image hosting (Cloudinary). Photos on this site are served via Cloudinary. Cloudinary may log standard server request data (IP address, browser type) as part of delivering images. We do not use this data.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, location, phone number, or any other personal detail. We do not sell data to anyone. We do not track you across other websites. We do not have user accounts or login systems.
Your rights under GDPR and other laws
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you (typically just an email address if you subscribed), ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it for a specific purpose, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Email hello [at] brooklynof.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can request what categories of personal information we have collected (almost certainly: nothing beyond an email if you subscribed to the newsletter), request deletion, and opt out of any "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, email hello [at] brooklynof.com.
Children
brooklynof.com is a travel publication intended for an adult audience. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email hello [at] brooklynof.com and we will delete it.
Data retention
Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Plausible aggregated analytics are retained indefinitely (no personal data involved). Third-party cookies expire per each vendor's published policy.
Cookies
The site itself sets no first-party cookies, and Plausible sets none. The only third-party cookies come from Stay22 or the booking site, on the Stay pages or after you click a hotel link, to attribute a booking. Blocking cookies in your browser will not break the site.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will update the Last updated date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
