Sredets The pick
Sredets won on density. Every runner-up on this list has a version of the good life, but you have to drive to the rest of it. In Sredets, the whole evening happens on foot. Coffee at Better Specialty, a browse through Elephant Bookstore, dinner at Cosmos, then a decision between nectar and 5L Speakeasy that you can make on the sidewalk between them. Then there's the layer underneath, places like Hambara that don't bother with signage because the neighborhood carries the address for them. That only works where the scene is thick enough to sustain it. In Sofia, that's exactly one neighborhood.
