6 places to spend an afternoon.
Former Soviet buildings turned into live music venues and gallery spaces. Loftas and Kablys host everything from punk shows to electronic nights in converted industrial halls. Daytime, hit Vinilo Studija for Lithuanian pressings and ADV Store for sneakers you won't find in Old Town shops.
3 things to do, 3 shops, all in Naujamiestis.
Naujamiestis runs its culture out of buildings that used to do other jobs. A 182-year-old prison on Lukiškių now houses 250 artists at Lukiškių kalėjimas 2.0, while Loftas turns a Švitrigailos factory floor into concerts and club nights, and Kablys keeps the punk and drum and bass rooms going underground.
Lukiškės quarter prison that ran 182 years before closing in 2019. Now a raw cultural hub: 250 resident artists, concerts, exhibitions, bars, and food trucks across two courtyards and six buildings. Netflix shot Stranger Things Season 4 in the cell blocks. English guided tours run 1.5 to 2 hours.
Multi-room underground club where Vilnius's real music scene lives, with punk one night, drum and bass the next, experimental noise the night after. Gritty in all the right ways, with sticky floors that come honestly.
Former factory on Švitrigailos turned into Vilnius's most active cultural venue, hosting live music, theatre, cinema, club nights, and the annual Loftas Festival every September. The walls carry the city's only international street art collection, and the summer courtyard fills with food trucks, pallet furniture, and the Uptown Market showcasing young Lithuanian designers.
Naujamiestis shopping runs along Pylimo and Naugarduko, where Vinilo Studija's staff can tell you which Lithuanian pressing is worth your money and Tried and True hangs '90s Nike windbreakers next to faded band tees. ADV Store handles the streetwear side, stocking labels Old Town boutiques won't touch.
Proper vinyl shop on Pylimo gatvė where the crates reward patience and the staff actually know their pressings. Go on a weekday afternoon when it's quiet and you can dig without someone breathing down your neck.
Streetwear and lifestyle shop stocking a sharp mix of international and local brands that feel right for this part of Naujamiestis. Small footprint, deliberate selection, worth a detour if you care about what you wear.
Tried and True stocks vintage streetwear from the '90s and early 2000s on Naugarduko, with racks of old-school Nike windbreakers and faded band tees sorted by era. The vinyl section leans heavy on hip-hop and electronic from the same period.
