The Brooklyn
of Belgrade is
Savamala.
Savamala is where Belgrade's creative energy landed after the warehouses emptied out. Old riverside buildings on Karađorđeva became bars, galleries, and restaurants that don't open until the rest of the city is asleep. The Sava River runs alongside it all. Things get loud on weekends, and nobody apologizes for it.
Karađorđeva street and its side streets pack over 30 bars, clubs, and galleries into roughly 1.5 km of riverside real estate.
Other cool neighborhoods in Belgrade.
Dorćol
Dorćol is the old quarter that figured itself out. Great coffee, quiet cobblestone mornings, and some of the best craft beer bars in the Balkans along Strahinjića Bana.
Vračar
Vračar is where Belgraders actually live. The neighborhood around the massive St. Sava Temple is all leafy streets, bakeries selling burek at 7am, and serious espresso culture.
Skadarlija
Skadarlija is Belgrade's answer to Montmartre. Cobblestoned, full of traditional restaurants with live music. Touristy, sure, but the ćevapi at midnight still hits.
