July and August run quieter in the city since locals head for the coast, so a week out is fine. EXIT festival in nearby Novi Sad is the real exception - if you want a Belgrade base for it, book four to six weeks ahead.

Smaller design hotels and apart-hotels in Savamala usually include a basic continental breakfast: bread, cheese, kajmak, ham, eggs on request, and Turkish-style coffee. Larger chain properties typically charge 8-15 euros extra. Skipping it is often worth it - the bakeries along the riverside streets serve burek and proja for 2-3 euros.

Savamala is safe day and night. Belgrade has low violent crime by European capital standards. The area sees foot traffic until late because of bars and clubs along the river, so streets stay populated. Watch for uneven pavement and tram tracks after dark. Serbians visiting from other cities tend to stay in Vracar or Dorcol rather than the tourist core around Knez Mihailova. Vracar is residential and walkable with cafes locals actually use. Dorcol sits between the old town and the Danube and has a slower pace. Both are 15-20 minutes on foot from Savamala if you want nightlife access without staying on top of it.

Standard check-in is 14:00 or 15:00. Smaller Savamala properties are flexible if you message ahead - early arrivals from 11:00 are often accommodated when rooms are ready.
