Marijin Dvor's shopping leans literary and design-driven, not nostalgic. Buybook has been printing and selling Bosnian writers since 1996, Brodac turns a former city hall room into a working contemporary gallery, and Bazerdžan puts Bosnian designers on shelves usually reserved for souvenirs.
Opened in 2016 in Sarajevo's historic Baščaršija district, Bazerdžan is an independent concept store showcasing Bosnian designers and artisans through fashion, jewelry, homeware, and souvenirs.
Independent bookshop and publisher founded in 1996, right after the war, now stocking Bosnian literature, international fiction, and a deep Balkan history section alongside an in-store café. They also founded Bookstan, Sarajevo's annual literary festival.
Down a flight of stairs under the Skenderija sports complex, this gallery opened on April 6, 1975, the anniversary of Sarajevo's liberation, and never closed during the siege. Three artists' unions run it jointly, sitting on 16,000 works. Every April 6 the Grand Prix names the year's best Bosnian painters, designers, and architects.
