Hampden The pick
Hampden won on completeness. Station North has more galleries, Remington has cheaper rent, Highlandtown has deeper roots. Hampden is the only one where the whole stack works at once: coffee you'd cross town for at Catalog and Vent, dinner that ranges from Ekiben to Dylan's Oyster Cellar, a bookstore worth an hour at Atomic Books, and a bar like Zissimos that has poured cheap Busch since 1930. You can land here with no plan and fill a full day on foot. The others each do one thing better. None of them do everything this well in ten walkable blocks. Hampden does all of it without trying to, which ended the argument.
