Saint-Cyprien The pick
Saint-Cyprien won without trying to. Les Carmes has better restaurants. Saint-Aubin has a bigger Sunday scene. Saint-Michel has the same cheap rents. But Saint-Cyprien is the only one where the pieces arrived on their own, coffee at Hayuco Coffee Copola, wine at Le Temps des Vendanges, cocktails at Billy Brandy, galleries filling the gaps between them, and no city masterplan behind any of it. It also has the river, which the other three do not, and in Toulouse the Garonne outweighs everything else. Cross the bridge and prices drop, the crowd gets younger, and the evening lasts longer. That is what coolest means here.
